This BIOS Update Utility updates the BIOS (System program including the Embedded Controller (EC) program) stored in the IdeaPad System to fix problems, add new functions, or expand functions as noted below.

The password prompt would always request for Supervisor password, however either Supervisor password or user password accepted.

Installation instructionsUpdating the BIOSNotes:

• If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the BIOS. To determine if you should update the BIOS, refer to the Version Information section.
• You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the BIOS.

Attention: Do not turn off or suspend the computer until the update has been completed. IF YOU DO THAT WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM BOARD MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED.Manual Update

Firmly connect the AC adapter to the target computer.

Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges on the target computer.

Copy the BIOS update utility EXE file to your HDD. Run it in a work folder.
The recommended directory is C:UTIL.
It will generate sub folder BIOS-FW by default.

Click Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Windows Explorer, and enter in C:UTIL folder.

Double-Click flashxp.bat.

Its in BIOS upgrade process now and dont remove AC adapter or power off machine.

After flash/upgrade completely , system will reboot automatically.

Unattended UpdateNote: This procedure is intended only for system administrators.The BIOS is updated without any user interaction.

• Refer to the Manual Update section, and Download and extract the files.
• At the command line, execute WINPHLASH.exe with the /S and /remote2 option.
  Example: C:UTILBIOS-FWWINPHLASH.exe BIOS.wph /S /remote2
  To view the update result, refer to the PHLASH.LOG file created at the same directory of the package.

Initializing the BIOSBIOS Initialization is suggested for some problems. To initialize the BIOS settings:

Turn off the computer.

Turn on the computer.

While it starts displaying Press <F2> to Setup, <F12> to Boot Menu in left-bottom corner, press the F2 key immediately. The BIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed. If a password prompt appears, type the correct password.

Press the F9 key to load default configuration.

Select Yes.

Press the F10 key to save default configuration and exit.

Select Yes.

Restart the computer.

Notes:

• After initialization you may need to reapply some settings that you had changed previously.

Determining which version is installed

Turn off the computer.

Turn on the computer.

Lenovo notebook 3000 Y200 Norton NPC Patch for Configuration Wizard for Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit)

This patch triggers the launching of Configuration Wizard. Symantec has confirmed delay in the launching of its Configuration Wizard in limited OEM Norton Internet Security layouts on systems running windows vista. Configuration Wizard for Limited OEM Norton Internet Security (NIS) versions 2007 and 2008 are triggered by a System reboot. windows vista often suspends the System and therefore extends the possibility that the user may not reboot for a long period of time.
Additionally, this delay may also delay the subscription and liveupdate features of NIS. Therefore, if the Configuration Wizard process is not completed, the user stays unprotected from a security perspective and are exposed to threats that could lead to data corruption, identity theft, or degradation in system performance.
